1999 Sea Doo GTX GFI slow take off

We have recently replaced the impeller and wear ring in our 1999 see Doo GTX GFI. When we put it on the water it started perfectly, idles perfectly but will not “take off” when you give it throttle. It’s revs up as if the rear end is out of water. If we hold the throttle at around 10 mph or even full throttle, it will take off and run like a charm. WHY will it not take off quickly? WHY does it feel as if I’m “plowing water”? It does not “lag” or “hesitate”. It has plenty of consistent power.

why did you replace the "ring" and prop in the first place?

It was worn and had visible damage.
