I decided to a complete carb rebuild on the 94 XP 650, with the 38i mikunis.

I have disassembled them, waiting for the kit to come.

How does the brass needle seat housing come out? I have not even tried to remove them yet with the fear of damaging them. The needle and seat that is in there really does not look that bad, and test ok. but since new ones came in the kit ill try to get them in.

Thanks a bunch..

i've said alot, if anything, just replace the diaphram and needle, everything else, really, doesnt go bad. Anyway, remove the little screw next to the "seat", that is, if you've already removed the needle and the "tang",that lifts the needle up. Remove the little screw, then get urself a needlenose and lift up on the "seat", its an o-ring snug fit.

Thanks! I think ill take your advise and leave the seats in, hope they test ok when done. I cannot see the brass seating area wearing out.

SInce you got the rebuild kit, might as well remove it, and replace the old o-ring with new. Use wd-40, 2-stroke oil..etc, and wet all the o-rings when re-installing everything, along with the "needle".

Theres a number on the bottom of the seat, hope you got the right one... 1.5, 2.0...etc, needles are the same

Ok.. The kit also comes with 2 sets of needle springs. I was planning to put the ones that were in them back in ??????

YES, Definitely....do not swap springs, with ones from the rebuild package, you'll beat urself to death, get'n the craft to run right. Nothing wrong with the "oem" springs, plus, those springs are "gram" rated compression.

Will those clear plastic check valves stand up to carb cleaner, or remove before cleaning. I have new ones with my kit . I was wondering anyway.

Replace the seat...they just pull out. I put a little spit on the new one so it slides in and doesnt distort the oring.

The filters will stand up to carb cleaner.
