Right all, without hijacking someone else's thread after reading it, I also have a few questions regarding the Candoopro as I too am looking at buying one as well but excuse any silly questions that may follow as I am just trying to get a bit more knowledge of it all after reading the features of the candoo I'm wondering
Works with DESS, RFI, DI, and Kw2000 250k and 500k Protocols.
I know what the DESS and DI is what's the rest of it mean?
•Set Ignition Correction and Curves (2 strokes) what are they talking about ( Curves)?
Note:Features are model specific may not apply to all. ( what dosen't it do and for what models of skies other then seadoo)? Of course it wont do anything for the models made before 1996 or after 2014 I know that much.
whats being meant by yearly maintance? other then the $30 yearly fee?
Automatically detects the protocol needed without changing flashes ( meaning?)
Used it to reset TPS ( whats TPS)?
DOES the gauge cluster have to be programmed with this as well? I'm at some stage going to have to get a new one for my gti se
I plan on using the Candoo on my 08 gti se seadoo and a 02 951 DI 2 stroke seadoo I just want to make sure the candoo will work and be useful for both skies before I get it, I don't want to buy it if its only going to work with just one or the other ski.
Here are some answers to your questions:
1. The KW2000 is the communications method used on the 4TEC engines. The Siemens ECU-based engines from 2002 to 2010 used the 250K version, which is the speed of the communication. When they switched to the Bosch ECU's in 2010, they went to the 500K faster communication.
2. On the 2 stroke 787 and 951 Carb and RFI engines, the Correction factor is the base timing value. The curve value is a "hidden" value that defines the shape of the ignition curve. This is only advisable if you have a dyno and know what you are doing with changing the shape of the curve. Your 951 DI only has a base timing correction value.
3. Candoopro currently supports about 200 different ECU configurations for the BRP products, thus the disclaimer on the short list. Your two skis are pretty fairly represented by the features shown on the screenshots at the Candoopro website.
4. When you buy the Candoopro system, during your first year of ownership, any software updates they issue are available for free. If you want to continue to get these updates after a year, then they charge you $39 per year. If you choose not to update, the program still works fine, but you cannot download new updates as they make them available. You also are covered by their hardware warranty as long as your maintenance is current.
5. The automatic Protocol statement means you just hook it up to your ski, and it automatically detects what type of ski it connects to without you needing to do anything to select it.
6. TPS means Throttle Position Sensor, used on all fuel injected skis, and a common wear/failure item. Whenever you replace one, you must reset it for the ECU to know the zero point.
7. On 2006 and newer models, Sea Doo put on a security feature to require you to "marry" a new cluster to the ECU when you replace one. This was done to prevent the average user from buying a new cluster and placing it on a high hour ski to mask the true hours. The Candoopro system can perform this marrying function. In addition, a big caution goes out to owners of 2006 to 2009 skis. The replacment clusters for these skis (like yours ) is a generic replacement cluster that has no software loaded in it. Candoopro sells replacement clusters for these years, pre-loaded with the proper software you need for your ski, so all you need to do is install it, and marry with the Candoopro tool.
8. The Candoopro system will work fine with both the 08 GTI and 02 DI.
