Here's my situation, I have a 2006 GTI SE. I got some rocks sucked up into the impeller. I'm pretty sure the wear ring needs to be replaced. The impeller is dinged up pretty good and the housing (I think that's what you would call it) is dug into pretty good.

My question is can I and should I try to make the fix myself?

I have no experience fixing a jetski and don't know how badly I could screw things up by trying to learn.

yea

well, do you have the impeller tool?

I'm going to guess no.

take the jet pump off, and just take the pump to your local shop.

U can then tell if the impeller needs replaced or not.

the local shop can replace the wear ring and or impeller at the same time, then just give you the jet pump back.

it will save you about 1-2 hours labor, so that's $75-$150

pulling / replacing the wear ring is a 1/2 hr job here if you take them the jet pump... so for $30 I let them do it...

also, Download the shop manual, removing the jet pump is easy, just don't lose any bolts / washers / etc.
