Break in procedure

I’m a little confused on the proper break in procedure on my 1997 seadoo GTS. I’ve read some articles saying different things. I know I need premixed and injection for the first ten gallons but I’m hearing different things about time frames and throttle. My manual says only 3/4 throttle for first ten hours but that’s about it. Other threads say otherwise too.

Ok, first half tank don’t go over 1/4 throttle but get it up on plane, you don’t want a g
Heavy load. And vary the throttle. Next half tank don’t go over half throttle and vary the throttle. All on premix and oil injection.
Also give it time to cool off every 15 minutes to heat cycle the engine.

The next full tank is only raw fuel with oil injection. Half tank at 3/4 throttle and varying the throttle. The last half tank you can go full throttle but don’t hold it wide open.

And you are done.

Seadoo OEM rings don’t have Teflon coating like the Japanese ones so depending on what you used they can take longer to seat.

Out on the lake today and I notice the engine runs great but around 1/4 throttle it vibrates pretty good. It like kind of gets on plane but I don’t wanna push it and give it too much throttle. I’m suspected the wear ring could use a replacement but not sure. Any advice on my next steps? Otherwise first 15 mins on the water went well.

It kinda does it when you just are getting on plane. At idle I can hear a faint like tinging or something but I think it might’ve been spark plugs I had in the front compartment that were bouncing. It gets up and like at plane it kinda is vibrating and like idk the exhaust starts like popping or it might not be the exhaust but the wear ring and impeller. I’m certain I have no idea what I’m talking about so hopefully I don’t sound dumb. I’m not sure if it really even gets on plane but I’m nervous to give it too much throttle.

They all sound like that at around 1/4 rpm coming up on plane. That weird burble/miss. I think it has to do with the carb transitioning and the resonance in the exhaust. Always makes me question my work on a break-in ride even after all these years.

So do I push it a little more to get it on plane or not go over 1/4 throttle?

I would get it up then back off to 1/4. Sitting there just plowing water puts a lot of load on the engine which is what you don't want.
