Break in inspection coming up... Do I need it?

Ok so I'm at 8 hrs on my 2011 gti 130 se.

The manual recommends service; I partially agree with it. Looking at my owners manual, the only service they perform is an oil and filter change- along with an inspection of a majority of the engine etc...

Should I just have the oil and filter change and bypass the $300-350 inspection total cost? What do you think?

Thanks in advance- brandon

The first and last time a stealership serviced my ski...10hr mark. I regretted the decision immeadiately. Afterward...even the wife didn't mind me doing my own oil changes.

If you have a warranty in effect on it Brandon, failing to do the 10hr inspection and service by the dealership will void it.

Inspection of the majority of the engine etc. includes checking for any loosening bolts/fasteners and re-torquing them down. Within 10 hrs, anything that is going to come loose on it's own probably has which is why they want you to do the 10 hr service. If you don't and anything breaks within the warranty period and you can't prove you had the dealership do the 10 hrs service inspection then BRP won't honor the warranty you'll be on your own.

Just something to keep in mind... it suxs.

My daughter has a 11 gti 130 changed oil and filter at 10 hrs plus checked various nuts and bolts nothing loose, did oil change at 80 hrs, and will do another oiland filter change at end of season. She now has 101 hrs on it not a single problem and these hrs are all this season. IMO the dealer will see this ski when and if i need there computer and thats it. To many people make such a big deal about warranty and having to take to dealership. Warranty on my ski lasts 1yr. and if any thing was going to break during that warranty time it would have happened by now. If you own a supercharged model than you can count on 600$ spent on charger rebuild at least every 2 yrs. which to me it's not worth the extra $ for the extra speed. If i wanted a supercharged model i would trade it in every year for a new one or buy a turbocharged honda and not worry about it just saying

The superchargers need rebuilt every 200 hours now, not 100. That should be longer than 2 years for a large portion of riders.

But you're right - that is another factor to take into consideration when buying. Especially since the supercharger on Kawasaki's 300x doesn't require this.

And if anything had broken by now, you'd likely be complaining that BRP doesn't honor their warranty... and they wouldn't have either, as the warranty is dependant on showing proof you had the 10 hrs service inspection done which you didn't as I'm understanding your post.

Also a lot of people buy the extended 3 year warranty when they purchase and finance these watercraft new, and THAT is only going to be honored if you get the 10 hr service inspection done it's in the fine print.

This is a personal decision, to each their own I only wanted to make sure the OP understood that he'll likely have no warranty and no recourse if he doesn't go ahead and take it in for that 10 hr service inspection, that's all. I didn't buy my RXT new, so I never had any warranty issue to content with... if it breaks it's all mine to deal with! But I didn't spend $12k+ on it either though. LOL!

How do you know i would complain. If you can't make a toy last more than one season then you should not be building them. I have seen other people who have there new ski's sink on them what kind of bs is that. IMO seadoo has lost my trust in the product they sell. My daughters ski had 2 recalls on it before she even rode it. bad timing chain and they decide too add a deflector on the hood don't you think they those recalls should have been known about before they sold them. That is some really bad r/d work let alone quality control. It is typical big corparation's who don't care about joe public lets just sell them no matter what, and what do the dealers have to put up with when there caught in the middle. or what about the dealer that takes in 96 seadoo that was running fine on trade for a 2005 gtx supercharged to a 50 year old women who bought it with 121 hrs on it and 18 hrs later the supercharger needs to be rebuilt 600$ that's is bs.

How do you know i would complain.

Because you're already complaining, and your daughter's SeaDoo isn't even under warranty anymore and you are still complaining that's all your 3 posts have been about is slamming the SeaDoo product line as hard as you can... and with an ID of "TwoMad", I don't expect any less actually.

If you hate the SeaDoo product line so much, sell the thing and get a Yamaha or Kawasaki and see if they're any better. Life's too short to own a machine you cannot stand. Ranting about it on here isn't going to change anything though, "TwoMad". :chillpill:

Regards.

ps. My sister does own a Kawasaki JetSki, bought brand new with the extended 3 year warranty and Kawasaki also required a 10 hour authorized dealership inspection and service (at owner's cost) or else they too will void the warranty... so it's not just BRP's SeaDoo's that require the 10 hour inspection and service I know this for a fact. I suspect Yamaha has a similar requirement... don't like it, go find a good used PWC for less than half the cost of new but with NO warranty at all and deal with any issues that arise yourself at your expense... or buy yourself an inner-tube and be happy with all the headaches and money you saved. LOL!

Hey mike maybe you should change your name to brp or seadoo. you take this stuff two seriously. it's a toy and you didn't have any comeback for my post. just a bunch of bs about me .why don't you talk about what i said. and if you want to pay for a 10 hr. inspection then go ahead and waste your money on a inspection and a oil change. i would love to see what they really inspect what a joke but if you got 300$ to waste then go for it. ps i do my own oil changes and inspections for a hell of lot less than 300$. ps just wondering if you own a dealership???
