Just bought my first SeaDoo yesterday! It's a 2013 RXT-X 260 with 12 hours. Got a cover, 3 life vests, and It came with the R&D Boost Box as well. Think looks like it came off the showroom floor! Taking it to dealer tomorrow to get the Oil changed in it. Anything else I should do? Anything I need to know about that R&D box? Thanks guys can't wait to get out on the water! Also gonna look into a neoprene life jacket any recommendations? Thanks

Welcome and congrats on the purchase!

The boost box was a poorly received speed control override module. We never sold them, but not that they didn't work. As far as I'm aware, it was just to bypass the GPS speed limiter. Same as an SCOM.

Even though it only has 12 hours, you'll want to consider a supercharger rebuild. Maintenance interval is every 2 years or 100 hours.

I also highly recommend upgrading with an air intake, impeller, and one of our maptuners. We improved acceleration by about +30% with those three items. Makes it feel like it'll pull your arms off :-)

Thanks Ill definitely keep it in mind on the rebuild. Runs great right now and several buddies have them with 3+ years and no rebuild yet but they are 60-80 hour range.

Just like my Ducati Monster 1200S is MORE than enough bike for me and I don't need the Panigale (or any of the top level superbikes), I prefer the lower maintenance naturally asperated PWCs. But from what I understand, you want to listen to JoeZ. The SC parts can become brittle and can come apart meaning your engine will ingest things it shouldn't be ingesting.

With those few hours, I'd give it at least 50 hours of run time before you rebuild the S/C. But I WOULD NOT go much beyond that. However, I'd do an oil change and plug change IMMEDIATELY before really putting her to the test.

JoeZ really knows his shit. So you figure out if you're good with going to the 50 hour mark on the S/C. Personally, I would. But it's YOUR $$$ on the line. Not mine.

I think what I'll do is just ride it the rest of this season since it's only got 12 hours gonna get oil and plugs done tomorrow, and end of season early next season send in the supercharger and get a fresh build on it.

Gotcha. Didn't mean for this to turn into a thread only talking about that supercharger....just everyone around here has seen first hand what happens (and it isn't pretty or cheap).

You mentioned life jackets before. The Jettribe jackets are pretty good, but hard to know what all they have in stock. That's what I ride with personally and love it. You can go direct to their website jettribe.com for the latest styles. We can get anything you're interested in that they have since we are a dealer.

And take some pics of your new ride when you get a chance

Should be plug and play. Disconnect it and see. Maptuner overrides the limiters anyway.

I have the seadoo life jackets I like mine they have the eyelet where you clip your lanyard

Initial SC rebuild @ 100 hours, rebuild with 200 hour kit, so then next rebuild will be @ 300 hours
