Hi guys pick up a running 97 GTX. Did get fired up and running smoked real good. Owner says has not run in a year. Throttle cable was off or unhooked. Oil pump cable is laying there , ran some premix in it , ran it like for a min. Pre owner said has sea doo oil in tank I’m not sure it’s purple. Royal purple?. Should I change it or leave is ok? If change to OEM Sea-Doo oil how do I get it out of the crankcase? Thank fo help

Mystik JT-4 is purple and is fine to use The correct sea doo oil however, would be red. You should probably drain it all out and start with something you know is correct Either Sea doo XPS2, Mystik JT-4 or the Amsoil is really good too. The engine in that ski is a RAVE engine so you definitely want to use full synthetic

Tank and lines are drained, going to install a new filter with Sea-Doo XPS oilI have here. You think it will be fine with oil in bottom end? If keep running XPS in it other stuff should work it’s way out?. Thanks for your reply

Just use a suction pump to get most of it out of the cases. A little left in won’t hurt anything.

Hi updating this post with some more concerns. Changed oil to the Sea-Doo XPS 2. Ski runs well on hose. The info center blinks low oil( tank is full) HI Temp. So changed temp sensor blew out water lines with light pressure . Still no difference eater comes out back by pump and weep hole by hook engine feels cool to touch. So with it running press mode get to RPM shows 8000, tach needle at 3000. Display hours it does not shows only - - - -. Scroll back to time now blinks compass . No hi temp or low oil . Wow help please!! [emoji52]

Sounds like the Info center gauge is wigging out with that multitude of false readings. Just me and my opinion, can't hurt to take the info gauge apart and clean it. There's a connection between the lcd display and the board that can get corrosion. I'd also go through all the connections on the ski that go to the info gauge, spray them with electrical lubricant. You need to take the underside of the hood apart to do this.

If it’s just a gauge in your opinion you think it’s ok the put in water go for a short ride? Thanks man

Maybe, I'd go through the carbs and at least check them out, clean em first before you venture out on the water. Many on here get an old ski and it fires up, then they get about a run or two on the water and trash the engine from clogged carbs or old brittle oil lines breaking off.
