I sold my screwed up 95 Sp and bought a 95 GTX.

It's exterior is great and it runs beautifully

I just have a few questions:

1) The gauge that has the low battery / low gas lights seems to be faulty. The seadoo has a new battery and its full of gas but the two lights seem to stay on. Is there a fix for this or should the whole gauge be changed?

2) While cold, it took about 6 crank attempts to turn the seadoo on. It was on Neutral and the choke was up. Is this normal or could something be wrong?

3) I don't know what type of oil the previous owner was using. It currently has a blueish colour oil that looks fine but I'm not sure if he was using 'tc-w3' or the correct type 'API-TC'. Should I drain the oil or just refill 'API-TC' oil on top of whatever is there?

Thanks

Simon

Unless the last owner can show you the bottle they poured the oil from... always drain, clean and refill the oil system. Then you know exactly what you are running.

The gauges are known to go bad, if you can see any moisture in it... but a loose wire can cause issues too. As far as the fuel not working... it is common for the old style floats to either sink, the magnets fall off of it, or the fuse in the sender pops. Order a new blow molded float, and install it, and while the sender tube is out, check the fuse.

The battery light is a single wire going to a 12v source. If it sees more than 12v... it should go out.

Finally... your starting problem may be a problem, or it could be that it has been sitting for a long time. I'd say, before getting too worried about it, take it out for a ride. If it runs fine once started, and it will re-start once it's been warmed up... I wouldn't worry. If it's hard to restart after being shut off... then the carbs need some attention. But, since it's a "New to you" ski... I would check compression. Low compression can make it hard to start.
