Bought 1997 Sea Doo Challenger 1800 ( needs top end of the port side motor rebuilt)

Hey everyone I am new to seadooforum.com. I just bought a 1997 Sea doo challenger 1800 last week blind sided. The seller told me that the top end of the port side motor needs rebuilt. Could any one point me in the right direction with any quidance or information.

He was in the middle of doing it and had to sell the boat because of a divorce so I Have all the parts put have no clue of how to finish it.

I hate to sound like a salesman, but you can download the entire shop manual from this site if you join as a Premium Member. Even get access to the manuals and extra personal help in the Premium section.

Otherwise, the books cost around $30 if you can find them.

Did seller mention WHAT was wrong with the engine?

You will have to make sure everything else is turning and sliding, tip the motor over and flush out well with kerosene that you can strain into a cloth over a 5gallon bucket to collect the needle bearings and whatever else may be inside the case - then you will know what to do next, well next afer pouring some oil over the crank to keep it from rusting and tearing out the seals, then read slowly and study the pictures carefully to be sure the bottom end is actually able to run again.
