Boating on Fathers day.

I hope all the fathers out there had a good fathers day.

We decided to throw the little boat out on the local rivers around Pittsburgh. Normally, we just put it on one of the local lakes, and use it like a big jetski, but the other day, we decided to use it like a regular boat.

The day started by dropping it in on the south-side, and taking a leisurely cruse to the point. (where the 3 rivers join) The point is also where downtown Pittsburgh is. At the point, there is a very nice park with a large fountain, and on the adjacent bank of the Allegheny river, there is the stadiums for the Pirates, and the steelers. Also, there are museums, a science center, and "The Rivers" casino. (you can tie up at many places to get out, and walk around)

After a little adventuring, we decided to tie up at the docks at Station Square (a local shopping district) to have some lunch. My little girl then decided that she liked the fountains better than the boat. But, eventually, we got back on board, and headed back up the Mon river to a river side water park called "sand castle." When we got there, we shut off the engine, and just took a nice swim.

With the exception of a couple D--- heads at the ramp, as I was waiting to get the boat out... it was a wonderful family day. :hurray:

If you have a good Fathers day story... even if it's not boat related... throw it out for the other fathers to read.

I love Pittsburgh!!!

Actually, my father's day was spent fixing my dad AND mom's computers. Then dad was begging to go jet-skiing all day so when I was done with the computers, I took the XP out in the ship channel.

He didn't. He just fished and tossed a cast net from the docks, and I jumped boat wakes and watched the dolphin. Not sure why HE wanted to go jet skiing, then didn't even put on a bathing suit, and just fished... Whatever, it was HIS day.

Did a couple of 30 second wide-open runs on choppy water. MAN!!! I keep forgetting how FAST that thing is. :hurray:

Got a little sun and a little exercise. I needed both. Been too sedentary this summer...

Fathers day tubing

Took my wife, two boys and Sis in law with her two kids out tubing in the back bays of Avalon NJ. This was our first time tubing since I just got the boat last fall. OMG what a blast. The kids loved it. We used the Airhead Slide and it is a great little tube for kids and adults. I had my 7 year old jumping the wake at 30 mph and he never fell out. There were a few times where I don't know how he stayed in but he loved it. They were laughing their butts off when I put my 6'4" body in the tube. Legs and arms everywhere. Lol. A great fathers day to be sure.

Looks like you had a great Father's Day! Last time I was there I got to check out Heinz and PNC Park.. the time before Three Rivers was still up! Been a while.

I spent the day working. Gotta love being a public servant. My wife did manage to top by the firehouse with our 7 month old daughter, so that made my day.

Ever been to Cincinnati Doc? I live 10 minutes south of the river. Pittsburgh looks so much like Cincinnati...It's crazy

Fathers Day

Had the best weekend in a long time. My "kids" are 27 & 28 (girl and boy). My daughter flew into Virginia Beach on Thursday to surprise Dad from Orlando for father's day. I took Friday off we went to the beach, out to lunch, stayed out till 1:00 AM at the Sky Bar partying at the Hilton. Went to the oceanfront on Saturday and went to lunch, and on the Rudee Rocket. 2000HP 70ft boat! check out the link. Had a blast and felt like we were vacationers at the beach after living here 23 years. On Sunday my son and I played 18 in the heat, went to lunch with the family and then crashed at home watching the US Open.
What a great family I have, really a lucky guy!

Glad you fathers all had a good day. I know that things like "fathers day" is just Hallmark induced, so we spend money... but it's nice to reflect and spend time with family.

Rfoster...

Your kid is still young... you have lot's of time for fathers day. And, Yes... I've been to Cinci a bunch of times. The season opener for the V-twin expo is there. I've had a booth there a few times, but even if I'm not showing, I go down to see the show. (dealers only, not open to the public)

I normally stay at the Weston hotel. Thy have a Kick-ass breakfast quesadilla in the restaurant on the ground floor.
