Boarding Step - what to use for new rubber

So I have two jet skis with boarding steps on and both need to have the rubber replaced. I know I can send them in and have the rubber changed out but they don't seem to last long. Looking for other suggestions of items to use instead of sending them in? Non slip rubber spray?

I sent mine to Aqua step to be recovered and they didn't charge any labor, only the cost of the rubber. The new covering is rubber and not foam so it should last longer. Mine is going on 3 years and looks new but I keep the ski cover over it.
