So I just bought this 2002 LRV DI. My first Seadoo. I paid a mechanic to over the machine. I also wanted him to do the maintenance and show me around the machine. Changed the plugs( dirty ) and also the jet pump oil. He did a compression check and it came it at 135 and 138. He said the machine was in excellent shape.
The one thing neither of us liked was the bilge pump. It ran constant with the motor on. I did not feel that was necessary. So I did some upgrades.
First I changed the constant on Rule 460 gph to a Rule automatic 500gph that only checks for water every couple of minutes. This was easy as the new clicked into the same base as the old, I just had to solder new connections to keep original water proof harness.
Now I also wanted to add a back up pump that I could leave on if I left the Seadoo in the water. I went with a Rule mate 500 gph automatic pump that only turns on when water activates it. The other automatic pump that checks every couple of minutes would kill the battery.
The only place that would fit was behind the battery. I marked it out and sanded it down.

Made a bracket out of aluminum that fit the space.

Next I epoxy it in place. I used a gel epoxy so it would not run and I could really get a thick bead. I drilled holes in the sides of the bracket to help grab the epoxy. I also had the epoxy on the top edges of the bracket to help lock it in place. It turned out very solid.

I then riveted the base to bracket. Notice I took off some of sides of the plastic base so I could get the pump to sit as low as possible in the hull.

So it fit like a glove. The only place it could go.

I also replaced the heavy battery with a stronger light weight lithium battery. The added power will be a bonus when leaving the pump on and dropping 10lbs does not hurt.
I also added some Hydro turf and picked up a Rescue sled to tow around and play with.
