Big Lake Syndrome???

I have a 2004 supercharged GTX 3 seater, it runs perfectly most (almost all) of the time. However, if you run it consisitently above 20 or 30 mph for 5 or 10 minutes it will beep, stall and die. The boat will not restart unitl you remove the key, replace it, then restart... Then it runs fine again for 5 to 10 minutes, same situation.

We took it to the dealership, they said its called big lake syndrome and there's nothing that can be done about it. I say that's BS. Any ideas?

Sounds like BS...If it isn't I am selling my Seadoos and going with a brand that can handle "big lakes"...

It should be able to be run at any speed, for any amount of time, until fuel runs out.

OK so what do i do...

OK its BS, does anyone have any ideas about what could cause this? Its happened since my fiance first bought it, before i was around. She believed the dealership, who in my opinion was just trying to get out of doing the work to fix it.

She bought an RXP 2 seater at the same time, and that one runs perfectly.

Lanyard........

The ski sounds to new to have this type problem but your describing the symptoms of a bad post or a dirty lanyard. If your riding in salt water a lot, then you may have salt crystals in your cap. You say your on a lake, so I don't think it's the salt.

You haven't used any kind of electrical cleaner on it, have you? That's a big no,no. Use only soap and water on the lanyard cap and post.

The one beep means it's lost it's ability to communicate with the mpem.

Clean the cap and post really good with soap and water. You can do a search, with the search engine at the top of the page, in the tool bar, using keywords like "testing DESS post" and see what you come up with.

If you clean the post and test it and it comes up good. I would probably still buy a new one anyway. The post is magnetic and is capable of loosing the electrical field momentarily, while communicating with the cap, regardless if it test good or not.............

What?!:bs: BS! I know for sure that we do not offer a Bombardier Factory-Authorized Voodoo Manual or an Exorcism Handbook for our members to troubleshoot their Seadoos.

I will do that...

Thanks Snipe, another strange behavior that may be related is that when you first start the ski, you have to attach the key then wait a couple seconds while the the guages all cycle fully to the right then back down to zero, then it beeps. Then you can push start and it works fine. If you attach the key and push start right away, nothing happens and you have to remove the key and re-attach and wait till it appears to cycle and reboot, (i don't know if it has any kind of processor, but thats what it appears to be doing).
