I was wondering what the best way to remove a rivet is? I need to replace the rubber piece that holds my boarding ladder up on my 98 sportster 1800 and it is riveted in place.
The best way is to drill it out and replace with a rivet. You can buy the tool and rivets really cheap. Harbor freight has the tool and 100 rivets for under 10 bucks or 20 for a fancier one.
You only need to drill out the center of the rivet, it will then fall apart. So use a drill smaller than the hole diameter, so as not to enlarge the hole.
