The body of the car was injected with a 400 lb/sq in structural foam to increase rigidity. That was done as part of an experiment to see if the foam actually made a difference. I AutoX'd 2 weeks before the injection and then 2 weeks after with out any other mods in between....the car drove almost completely different! It was an interesting comparison.

I sold the Z mainly because after all the time, sweat and tears (and a few curse words) that I put into it, I just wasn't driving it anymore. Just not enough time between work and family. My daughter was getting older and we were spending more time together as a family and racing just wasn't a family sport for us. So rather than watch all my hard work rot away in the garage from lack of use, I sold it to a friend of mine that already had a '72 240Z (but was being worked on). He brings it over to the house for visitation from time to time...and I see it on the highways every so often.

I always told myself that was the ultimate car I wanted and I would never get rid of it. But as long as I keep seeing her being driven, then I'll be happy knowing I had a part in it.

Seems like an awesome car and great story to go with it. I always liked those older Z cars. There was one guy who brought his out to an autocross where I live...I was always impressed with how it'd handle (and how he'd handle it).

Very cool car...glad you still get your visitation!

Yup, Look at those fake Z06 badges!!!!!!!!!!!! lol j/k Joe

I'll start it off with my former vehicle that I sold a couple years back, a C5 Z06. I definitely miss this car!

That is a lot of good looking stuff, I too spent many miles with road racing cars like the Datsun 240 - I had the sedan Opel 1900, 75 lbs lighter than the GT, burnt in a few class records on the east coast with that and some others that were the underdog come alive against the factory sponsored cars. Anyone remember when Mich Speedway was a 3.6 mile course? Oh the memories of the Glen at 4.0 miles, some good times on 14inch 50/60 series radials in a illegal Super Vee with ethanol blended AV gas, I should have copywritten zoom-zoom-zoom.

bling bling bling
