Brand new Sea-Doo owner, it feels good. I would like to know the best type of oil to use in my boat. I have a 1999 challenger 1800 with the twin 800cc motors. Any suggestions would be much appreciated thank you.

787 2-Stroke - Use only an API-TC Synthetic oil. Do NOT use a TC-W3 Oil.

I have found that if you buy the BRP XPS Synthetic oil in bulk (1-3 Gallons), You can get it for about $47/gal. From what I've found that's about the same price you can get any other brand of API-TC Synthetic oil for and it's the OE oil, so that is what I use.

Some will tell you they've used TC-W3 oil's in their SeaDoo's with out any problems, but Is it worth chancing it? Some guys love to wrench and can pull, rebuilt and put back an engine in a weekend and don't care. For the rest of us, engine rebuilds can be very expensive, especially if you have to pay a dealer.

I agree, it must be low ash API TC rated oil. The best would be the BRP XPS and it runs around 48 a gallon. I use quicksilver you can get at wal mart, it is sea doo approved and it runs 38 a gallon.

That's not synthetic thought right??

I know Mercury (Quick Silver) has a PWC oil and a PWC Synthetic oil.

SeaDoo requires the use of SYNTHETIC API-TC oil for the 787 engine. The best price i've been able to find for the Quick Silver Synthetic PWC oil is $35/gal. For a couple dollars more I stick with the XPS.

Yes that is for full synthetic. Thats all i use, Quicksilver PWC full synthetic. 38 bucks at wal mart.

Mystic JT-4. $19 per gallon locally, $22 shipped.

Full synthetic.

J&M Camper Sales has XPS oil that ends up costing me 43 (shipped) if you buy a case of 3

It is supposed to meet or exceed Seadoo XPS oil.

I like their faq section...

SeaDoo XPS comes in 3 different types, Mineral, Semi-Synthetic, and Full Synthetic.

Many of SeaDoo's engines require the full Synthetic API-TC rated oil.

I Just looked at that webpage, it looks like even their "High Performance" oil is a Semi-Synthetic.

Too bad, cuz at that price I would definitly order some.

Look at the label on the pictures above. Full Synthetic right there on the bottom right.

I don't know where else you can get a full synthetic for $20/gal.

Unless I am misreading your post...:hat:

If it's API-TC rated and is full synthetic, then no there is no better price then that!!

I am researching that oil. If it is indeed API-TC and full synthetic, then I will be ordering a case!

Where do you order it from?

-TheChad

Directly from their website, I hear it runs about $22 per gallon, if you buy 4 gallons at a time.

They carry it at my local Academy Sports stores, so I only pay $19 per gallon.

What's the difference between the black and the white bottle?

They both say full synthetic and both say for pwc.

-TheChad

The difference is the color of the bottle. I looked them both over and the labels are identical. So, same stuff, different package.

I think the black bottle was the older packaging.

So I found that Mystik Oil is actually a Citgo oil product.

It does say "Mystik JT-4 Synthetic 2-Cycle Personal Watercraft Engine Oil far exceeds Personal
Watercraft engine requirements for an API TC, JASO FC and JASO FD quality oil." But doesn't actually say that it is certified to those ratings, just that it exceeds them.

I assume in order to claim that they actually have to be certified in that rating!?

It looks like it's $25.20/Gal on their website, price is the same for 1 gal of 4 gal. I don't know if they charge shipping from their site? (Have to register to find out).

If you are getting it at $20/gal, that's a heck of a deal.

I might have to order/try some even at the $25/gal price.

Kinda crazy that JM sells XPS cheaper shipped than I can get it at the stealership 5 minutes from my house.

I looked at the Mystik before when you posted your experience scoop and i used the link to find local dealers. All the ones I called said they did not have it and they said after they ordered it and shipped it, it was going to be like 35 a gallon. Is the $22 price direct from mystik to my door?

I am not sure. I just go to the local sports store and buy it for $19 a gallon. Never inquired about shipping, but I thought I remembered someone on here quoting $22 or so to ship.

As I mentioned, if you order it online from Mystik direct, it's just over $25/gal (I assume there will be shipping on that as well). It doesn't matter if you order 1gal or a 4gal case, the price is the same according to their website.

Maybe we can order it from an Acadmy store?? They don't list it on their webpage....

-TheChad

I noticed it wasn't on their webpage.

Still, at $25 per gallon even if shipping is$10 each, still way cheaper than XPS.

Okay, I found a local farm store that carries mystik's full line of oils, everything except the pwc oils!!!!!!!

They have JT4 snow mobile oil, it's also API-TC rated full synthetic, I assume the only difference is the additives... But it's $19.99/gal!

I'm soo pissed they don't carry the pwc oil!!!
