Hey all. When I install the safety laynard I get two beeps that everything is ok. Then when I hit the start button I get 4 beeps which per the manual means shifter not in neutral. Well it is, so no matter how much I fiddle with it I can't get the one beep that it's now in the neutral position and when I hit the start I still get 4 beeps....any ideas?? I checked the wiring and ground and everything seems to be ok...

Clean the post and DESS cap. Use soap and water and let it dry. Don't use any spray lube or grease on it as it will only cause connection problems. That should do it.

I cleaned it per another post you had saying use a pencil eraser...I will try this as well...however, will this keep my engines from starting? I still have not been able to get them to crank...i replaced battery, plugs, checked all fuses, electrical...everything!...the only thing I thought it could have been was the fact i was getting 4 beeps...

I would pull the control levers, and make sure the switch is working.

Dr Honda...I did that as well...everything seemed to be in working order...i even checked all the wires and grounds...I'm still having issues getting the motors to start...nothing happens when I hit the start button so i thought it must be the fact that im getting 4 beeps...i replaced plugs, battery cleaned terminals...you name it...im starting to think it's a grounding issue, but I don't know where to look for that...all the fuses and wires seem to be in tact and working...im lost and the worst part is this happens on a weekend I am having ppl up!!

mine does it once in a while too.....

mine does this every once in a while, and i checked the switch and all that too. everything seems fine, but like i said, it still does it once in a while. what i do, and this is what i do, is run the throttle thru its range and hit the starter once in a while. usually it finds "neutral" and it starts right up. not a factory fix, but try it, and see if your "neutral" position moves a little bit too.

After further research here is what happens...i put the key in..2 beeps...hit start..4 beeps...just wait and not touch anything...and anywhere b/t 3 sec and 15 sec i get the 1 beep indicating it's in neutral and i can start...weird

Either your MPEM is messed up... or the switch is bad. But, as long as you have a work around... I guess you are OK.

When you say that "Everything Looked to be in working order"... did you check all the wires, and switch with a meter... or did you just look to see if it was still connected?

I dunno. What do you mean by switch? The starter buttons? I took a multimeter to them and they seemed to be in working order... Basically they read the correct voltage as indicated in the manual. I didn't check the wires with switch however, I wasn't sure which ones I was looking at.
