Different types of batteries need to be charged different ways. Does anyone know what kind of battery comes with a 2010 RXTX and a 2010 RXPX? They can be Regular (maintenance fee), AGM, and Gell. The manual says virually nothing about the battery.

Just look at your battery.

If it's a "Wet" battery... then it will semi-clear so you can see the water in it, or it will have removable caps if it's a very large battery. (like in a car)

If it's an "Absorbed Glass Matt" (AGM) type of battery. It will be a solid color, and the caps will be non-removable.

If it's a Gel battery... it will say on the lable... but honistly... I doubt it's a gel battery since they weren't designed to be used as a starter battery. (you normally find them in electric wheel chairs, or kids powered vehicles)

You can charge a gel or AGM with a low current (1a) standard charger... but it's best to use a smart charger. The reason is... in a wet battery, the internal resistance will go up as the battery charges. In turn, cutting the charging current. If you use a standard charger on a gel or AGM, you can cook the battery if you don't monitor the charge voltage and time.
