I am having some trouble with the battery keeping a charge. I have just put on a brand spankin new rectifier, it's a 1997 GSX with the 787 in it. I took it out yesterday, it fired right up no problem. I was able to achieve 6200 plus RPM's. Form time to time I would have to goose the throttle to get past the 5200 range but it would open all the way up. Asfter about an hour, the RPM's started to fall, and when I tried to start it back up the battery just didn't have the juice it had when I first started. Where should I start looking for the problems. All the fuses are good. I didn't check the rear fuse, because I don't know where it's located.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

OK... you have a new rectifier... but is the battery any good?

After the install of the new rectifier... did you verify that it was charging? (there could be other problems)

Charging

I did verify that the battery was good. I took it to the auto parts store and they did a load test on it. it rated at 15.5v and 125 CCA. So it tested good. I charged for a good 7 hours before I took it out. I ran for about an hour and within that hour the performance slowly deteriorated, and then after I shut it off it had a difficult time starting back up. Then I stopped getting the beeps, and it just seemed like the battery was dying. So it feels like I am just not getting the charge put back into the battery like it should be. How can I tell if the rectifier is actually charging????
