My son found this on Market place> FREE, just get this junk out of my sight. Ok, I'm there.
1998 GTX Limited Edition, no motor(947), no pump, no seat. Everything else is there. Some real good hardware/components. Will test electrics with multimeter much later on. Or not.
1997 SPX, Original motor gone & steering cowling but did get a complete 787 & another 787 missing both cylinders only. Both motors in relatively good shape. This one is a keeper.
Included were a lot of OEM o-rings/gaskets still in package & some SBT/Titan o-rings.
Going to rob all the hardware/components off the GTX L, cut the top off & make a water trailer. Done this before to other junked PWC's. 1st water trailer I made I ended up losing some (a lot) of camping equipment, but you learn from failures. The other 3 I made, 35/40 mph tow speed with no issues.
Catalog all parts/components, find out what missing, 5S then hand everything over to my teenage son. His turn. Between the X2 & the ussy, he might have it running in two years or less. (yeah, right))
I'm finishing my own GTX & then I'm done with rebuilds for good.
Will provide pics on next post.

Plenty here for my son to work with.IMG_4393.JPGIMG_4392.JPGIMG_4391.JPGIMG_4390.JPGIMG_4389.JPGIMG_4388.JPGIMG_4386.JPG
Upon closer inspection, the GTX hull would not be a good fit as a water trailer. Needs more aggressive strakes & deeper V.

Nice..progress report please!!

I just caught the act of a youtuber who did his own Seadoo project and I gotta say..I think I need to try it!!(see pic)

At the moment the water up here in the great white north has just turned soft and I have three ready-to-go winter projects to water test..anyone of them I could sacrifice..

1/ 1995 Seadoo XP
2/ 1994 Seadoo GTI..717(most likely candidate)
3/ 1996 Seadoo GTX

Maybe we compare notes along the way!! Cheers...

Well my son is taking his time, looking over my shoulder on my rebuild & asking questions. He has yet to take wrench to bolt but that's ok, no pressure & no room in the shop.
As far as me, doing the RV lube study. Soon as I knock out some other obligations & get my ducks in a row regarding the "study", I'll make a detailed vid involving several aspects in possibilities of the oil circuit (late April?).

If you don't mind, may I DM you on the progression of the smaller details of this study as they occur?
I would like very much like to compare notes. A fresh set of eyes is always a "good thang".

Or course, feel free to DM, thought I still haven't figured out how to upload pics there. Perhaps it's the browser I use, but the add image button wasn't there.

Anyway, I just got back to mine. Installed the T fitting and connected the upper and lower rotary valve sump then placed the reservoir bottle above. It's located behind the storage box in the front and can be accessed from there to check and adjust level.

I've put Dextron III in the system..

The water is still too cold here, the ice only left 4 days ago. So it might be a while before I get some hours on the machine.

But I expect good things!!
