Anybody have a 2012 Sea-Doo GTR 215??

I don't have this one, but I have a 2010 RXT 215 - which is basically the same boat just two years earlier. This is actually my wife's ski (I've since bought a 2012 RXT 260). But when I was riding it I found it to have plenty of power to do whatever I wanted it to. It'll do about 65mph.

A couple things I didn't like:

1. when turning sharp the boat would slide a bit with a natural feel. Then, it seems the sponson would grab without warning and the tendancy was to throw me into the gravity pull. Almost knocked me off a couple times until I understood it was coming and I could prepare for it. My 260 doesn't seem to do this 'as aggressively.'

2. This wasn't an issue until I got my 260, but on the 215 you can't easily change the VTS - you have to push a button, enter a menu, select the VTS, then change it. A bit cumbersome. On my 260 there is a seperate button to control the VTS on the left handle grip - this makes things easier. But like I said I didn't know I preferred that until I got my 260 and had it. The GTR you are considering HAS this option already.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: I see you posted this question in another thread and that you'll be using it for the ocean. So here is my take on rough waters:

I took my 215 into the Columbia river with heavy river traffic (barges and container ships) so the water was pretty rough. While I don't have anything to compare it to since I haven't taken my 260 out in the same type of chop, I'd say the 215 responded about how an 11' boat should respond. It'll take some water over the bow and spray you often, no doubt, and you might feel hesitant about getting any speed with those waves - but that's all in your fear factor. I had never ridden one prior to it and so I was a little hesitant PLUS I had my 17 year old daughter on the back. But the VTS in the correct position definitely helps with the ride. I remember submarining my boat a couple times in that heavy chop but, all you gotta do is hit the throttle and power right through it.

I literally just bought one on Monday and haven't gotten a chance to ride it yet, but I will do my best to burn up plenty of fuel this weekend and I'll let you know how I feel about it
