Anybody ever use one of these lifting slings?

they work fine...
i bought a gp1200 (huge ski) that had been hanging on a sling for 7 years...

a winch might help you slide from trailer to stand... you can hook up a manual one along the back wall of your garage... just a suggestion.
I got lazy and bought a stand with an electric winch... its AWESOME !!!!!

I second Spim! We bought one for our hanger where we store all the seadoos we have and this has saved me untold back
paid and even allows me (quickly though...!) to swap skis myself. We just added an electric winch too and it's sweet.

and honestly I did it because it was a MAJOR pain in the azz to slide from trailer to stand... major.... and my wife, bless her heart, just doesn't have the upper body strength,, she stands there and say's she's lifting and pulling.. but her side never moved an inch lol

a manual or electric winch imo is a better, cheaper option. because you still need a picker with the sling...

Bolted a winch to my wall. Only need it for the big ski, but it's nice and easy. Pretty cheap fix.

Thanks everyone, I tried to make a sling myself using a come-along chained to the rafters and a tow strap, but it didn't work out too well. By the time I picked up the front and back to get the strap under it, I could've just moved it to a stand. :-)

I saw this lift system on EBay for $107, but then went to Amazon and they have the exact same one for $67.

Here we go. I knew I had a better one.

Hey Suke, What size PVC did you use for your stand? This is the stand that I'm going to make, but the one that I have a picture of is using what looks like 3" PVC. I just thought that 3" might be a bit of overkill for a 96 XP.

may be a dump question but is it safe to hook a come along / winch to the back tie down hook?

yip... not sure where else you would hook it :)

but i've winched my xp.,,, and an RX (even more dead weight) with no issues at all .. that's what its there for

I'm using 3" filled with the great stuff expanding foam. I don't like it to be honest. It's not even that cheap to build. Still $100 in materials. A buddy of mine just bought a NICE metal stand for $120 from some dude on CL. Sooooo if you're going home made do the wood ones you find people doing on GH. I did that for my yammi and have the stuff to do it for me XP, just haven't had the time. It's also quite a bit cheaper.

thats what i figured but just wanted to be sure. i also thought about getting the glide matts for both the trailer and stand bunks for less friction. what do you think? hehehe... i need to get a seadoo first but planning ahead.:)

I agree with the positives: works good. Good price too, I paid over $90 for mine from Sears.

Just hook it up to your forklift and can put the ski anywhere.

Good carpet works fine. I recarpeted my bunks on my tandem trailer and can pull both my 3 seater yammi full of fuel off by myself. I'm not a big guy either. Also I can pull my XP off with ease off both my trailers. Rarely do I need the winch. Sometimes it takes the winch to help me get them off the first foot or so. After that I can do it by hand.

Yeah I would do the wood bunk stand. There is a good thread over on greenhulk about building one, I did it myself and it took about 2 hours and $60 worth of wood and castor wheels from harbor freight

When I built mine, I adapted it from an engine cart and adjusted the height to match the trailer bunks. Works like
a charm.

So are you guys saying to winch it directly on/off the trailer/cart without actually lifting it? I thought that, just didn't want to scratch the hull. With new carpet on both, should I worry about that?

I am fortunate enough to have a petro powered sling, works real slick.

This is what I use for carts.

Ya, I live on site, so this is our shop, heating and irrigation facility. I am fortunate to have extra space and some equipment at my disposal.

Nope nope that's not what I meant. I still lift it but the heights being the same is just very handy

It is a nice mustang, but not mine. I detail cars on the side and just finished buffing that one to perfection for a car show.
