My 03 GTX has 4 set screws for the wear ring but the holes are stripped out. Can it pull air from there?

Have you thought about using a tap and putting in slightly larger set screws. A fastener store (like Fastenal) or a hardware store could probably help you with that. Don't know if it could be your problem but you could probably eliminate it as a possibility.

The screws are there to keep the wear ring from spinning, so don't worry about the holes in the jet pump housing. You'll notice how the screws will bore into the wear ring, but they won't penetrate through. Like you, the threaded portion of my jet pump housing didn't last, so I used a drill bit to slightly bore into the new wear ring, so the screws could bite. Again, be careful not to drill through the wear ring, and don't drill the holes too large.

Thought about going bigger or just making a starter hole but my older skis didn't use these so I tried running without them. I had pretty bad cavitation with the old wear ring and it was in rough shape. But the new wear ring didn't help. I also replaced the carbon seal, carrier ring and boot. Looking at putting silicon on the transom and the holes to see if that helps. The impeller looks okay but if nothing else helps, I may try a pump swap. I found a complete one for sale nearby.
