airbox wont fit in 98 xp limited

so i got this 98xp limited,,im in the process of making it water ready,,this is the next thing i have to figure out,,,it had aftermarket air filters with the covers on it,,it took in alot of water so i figured id put a stock airbox on it,,saw the correct one at the dealer on the parts pik,,,found it on ebay,a guy named mell,bought it from mell,,but not thru ebay,,i got one that is different than the one i saw on ebay and the one at the dealer,,the correct one i believe has 4 snorkles ,2 on each end of the box,,the one i got has 2 holes that face the engine,with rubber boots,,will this work?,,,also while tryin to put the airbox in,it looks like there is not enough room between the box n the hull,,i did notice it has an r&d reed block while i had the carbs off,,is this block thicker? cuttin down on my space?,,i know this is alot,,and im sorry,,im at the point where i want to sell it,,any help would really be appreciated,,oh ya there are jetting discrepencies also

k,,i talked to a seado guy and he told me the r&d block is much "taller",,so the stock airbox wont fit,,hopefully i have fixed all the water leaks,and the bilge pump now works,and bailer tubes installed, thus eliminating the chance of getting water to the carbs again,,moral of the story is be really carefull when buying a used ski

Thanks for the update. I've never installed an aftermarket reed block in an 951... so I didn't know.

I looked at a ski last weekend... 5.5 hr drive each way, had aftermarket head, exhaust, rev limiter, and they did something funky w/the water regulator (it was missing, but had some valve there), also had nice looking intakes...

however, when I water tested it... wouldn't break 6,000 RPM. on a 951! Stock will run 7k!

I said, I could make you an offer, but you wouldn't like it...

I wasn't looking for a project at that price...

i paid 1800,,sounds like too much to me now,,,but i bought it for the wife,,,cuz if she wants to go to the water,,then we all get to go much more often,,like every weekend to havasu would suit me!,we leave for havasu next wed morn,,so by noon ill know if it worked,,wish me luck
