My boat came with a sea worthy s***ty stereo that did not work..too bad huh? It turned on and crackled and sputtered. So I bought a new set up- nothing fancy and thought I could just use the wiring harness it came with.

Standard harness that plugged into my Seadoos factory harness but no power. Checked fuse-blown- replace fuse- blow that one too.

Do I need to do a complete rewire job? Anyone know what color wire is what on the Seadoo harness?

Just follow the power wire from the stereo and replace it, it might have a short in it, or it could be a bad ground.

i just added a system on my speedster

on the seadoo harness

the red and yellow are your 12v+ source (they meet about 6 inches from end of harness).
the black is ground -.

the solid white is speaker + port side (left)
and white with black is neg- port side
the grey is speaker + on starboard side (driver)
and grey black is neg- starboard

if you are blowing fuses one of the speaker wires might be touching and the radio is on and cranked all the way or you are wiring incorrectly on the power side.

your new radio should have same color wires if not. let me know what model radio you have and i will try and help more.

(i've been in this field for a very long time) (and i have many resources)

Tony/Karl-
Thanks for the info- now with the correct colors I do not have to run new wires. Luckily the stereo also came with a harness that has prestripped color coded wires.
