Aftermarket Pump Seal??

Greetings All:

I just purchased an aftermarket bearing and seal kit for my pump. The bearings look fine, but the replacement seal is an open style (right) vs the closed style (left - OEM).

Anyone ever seen this before. Usable or should I bend for the Rotax seal?

I found a SKF 8660 worked on my 95 GTX driveshaft, what is the part number on the one on the right?
 
Well... I went ahead and ordered the Sea Doo part anyway (just for peace of mind if nothing else). What is odd is that the new Sea Doo part 267000094 looks much like the aftermarket (I.e. one side is open - spring exposed).

Not real clear in the manual which side should face out (toward the impeller).

My assumption is that the open side should face the bearing and solid side the impeller. Is this correct?
