I am picking up my Utopia 205 next week, and during our test drive I couldn't help but notice how little wake the boat creates. Are there market add on you can install to increase the wake, other than the fat sack type things that fill with water?

Wake

JT,

Congrats on getting a Utopia 205. I just recently got mine and am loving it now that I got some issues resolved.

I too was very impressed with the very limited wake the boat produces when on plane. While I do intend on wakeboarding behind our Utopia, I'm no where near the proficiency of jumping wake. You are aware they make a model Challenger specifically for what your trying to achieve. Its called the 230 wake. It has a ballast tank on board you fill up which causes the boat to sit lower in the water and producing a bigger wake. I imagine you could probably place a large bladder in the ski locker of the Utopia and get some more effect but who knows??

Once again, congrats on the Utopia. Cant wait to see pics!

You could always just disable your bilge pump, and once the engine bay fills up with water, you'll be producing massive wakes!

Yeah, I heard there is a ballast (or pair) that is designed to fit in the ski locker (under the rear seat) of the Utopia, but I am not that interested in wakeboarding, just thought it would be cool.

I'll give the engine bay idea a try, I can't afford to lose storage, so I'll just fill up the back, good idea :stupid:

I wonder if there is a way to install some type of hydro fin that attaches to the stern that you could control mechanically to raise in and out of the water to create wake. I assume that would just mess up the planing, etc. Just brainstorming and wondering what the options were.

If we get big into wakeboarding, we'll upgrade to the Challenger Wake down the road.

you know that the nozzle has trim to allow turning it up for the greater speed boat (or wake) effect , you could adjust the linkage a little to allow some more lift

Tanks

Yea those tanks work great if you have deep pockets. I have used them once. We are just learning to wakeboard so it a good thing it doesn't have a big wake :willy_nilly:But we got brave and filled the tanks and WOW what a wake. Nornally we run about 10 to 20 mph (GPS) @ around 2500 RPM's but with the tanks full to get that speed it takes around 5000 RPM's.

Yeah, I'll probably pass on that for now, my boys are little anyway (8 and 10), so I'm sure they will have more fun with less wake for now anyway.

Sweet boat by the way, I love the paint.

Here is a good one.

Can't imagine what this would cost!!
Fat Sacks are the way to go, for a cheap easy fix.
If you slow your speed down and try not to let your boat get on the plain you will have a better wake, 23mph is the speed i tow at!!
With 3 extra passengers this give me a good sized wake.
