Hey audio guru's I am having a problem with my tweeters....
Well I bought a inexspensive pair of tweeters from Wally world just to see if they are worth the true investment...
So I go to hook them into my Front speakers in the boat and Im not getting any sound at to the tweeters...
The 4 6.5's are working great but the 1inch tweets are silent....
Any ideas?

Do I need get something else to limit the signal to the tweeters or what>?

Keith

Honestly I would take them back. You really need some type of crossover to split the signal. It seems to me, that you should be getting some noise though. I would look at just saving and upgrading to a decent component set. Ebay has some awesome deals out there.

These are what i have and they are awesome.

Here is a great deal on a set ending soon.

thx, but i talked with the wife and ordered the polk set yesterday, should be in sometime later this week..
I appreciate the offer

Had same prob.

The same thing happened to me …I got some $20 tweeters at Wal-mart and
hooked them directly to my stereos front output, and they barely make a sound.

maybe they need another hi-pass crossover, or maybe they need to be thrown in the trash?

I just wanted something to fill the empty space on either side of the console where the walk
way is. Maybe Polk or JL would be a better choice for a change-over this off season.

I would vote for the trash. Just buy a component set to match the rest of the nice speakers you got......Im gonna get that hydroturf in Sunday while im working finally.

Yeah, they look good in that spot, but that's about all they do. Let me know if you come across any good deals on Polk, JL, or Kicker tweeters. I just need the tweets, not the 6.5, or 5.5 that most cop. sets come with.

I take it you never were able to get the black Hydroturf you wanted...?

No I couldnt find anyone who wanted it for 200 shipped. I wont sell it and lose anymore than that. So I am gonna put it in Sunday.

You think that would screw it up to paint it, or dye it? That is the only other thing I can think to do. Once you put it on, it's there for good.

Did you try listing it on ebay at all?

Got the polk tweeters. Going to replace the walmart trash tweeters ASAP.

Adding a Farad Cap too to keep voltage regulated..

Got tweets and cap installed.

Got tweets and cap installed ...now debating to put 10" woofers, bigger marine amp, and more tweets??? This boat is becoming an mod addiction! haha

Looks great!!! It really is addicting. It pays off when you are out enjoying it on the water though. You need to upgrade to the 10" subs, you will be impressed. I know it cost a ton, but the alpine amp I am using is awesome. Wish you lived by me, i would like to hear it. I got a ton of stuff I wanna do but we just brought our new baby home last week so I am very busy.

Congrats on the new family mamber!

I was just about to ask you about that...glad everything went well.

I am on vac. in Barcelona, Spain and at the hotel on the forum, if that let's you know why I said this is addictive.

Maybe I will do the two batt. upgrade when I get home to try and suppress some of my urges to do more modding.

I really want to do the subs and amp, but hate to lose the sound I already have, plus looking at around 5-600 dlrs for amp, speakers, etc. I would def. want to put some more tweets near the subs to compensate for the lost highs from the 6x9's.

I guess once you put the battery in place it's there since you have to move the oil tank?

Yeah I dont plan on taking the battery back out until it needs replaced. I know you need to take it out for winter, but I am taking my chances since it is in my gargae that doesnt go below freezing.

want a depth finder now

Now i'm thinking about a depth finder to know how much anchor line to use... I don't guess the mods will ever end! That's alot of time and cash for something I was only able to use a couple times last summer!!

Uh..a depth finder is used to tell you how deep the water is so you don't go aground...For your anchor just be sure you have about 100' of line so you'll have enough rode for the anchor.

Karl

Yeah I guess I was trying to go by the use three times the depth rule for the rode as I have a Danforth..

How often do you use the depth sounder on your SeaDoo boat? I didn't really have anyproblems so far, but thought it would be a good idea to know how much anchor line was needed..around most of our lakes you can see the bottom in time to reverse out, or kill the pumps to avoid sucking up anything..

Thanks,

greg

I use my sounder all the time...water here looks like 2' deep but can be 20' deep. It is so clear here and sand bars are everywhere, outside the ICW (Inter Coastal Waterways). Mine works at 50+ and is always on line with the correct depth. I always carry 100' of anchor line to have the correct rode.

Karl

Sounds good..just have to find a place to mount the gauge now; really hesitant to cut/drill anymore holes....what about the haweye that has the flat panel..are those as accurate as the others?

I use the Hawkeye and it works real good. On the speedster I had to go to the outside hull mount for accuracy. There is also a mount bracket for the guage on their web site for an external mount of the dash. It just slips in and works pretty good.I think the web site is" norcross.com " located here in Orlando, Fl. the bracket sells for like $14.00 or something.

Karl

Yes i saw that instrument holder pod on the site, but I don't know where I could mount that thing in a safe location without getting knocked off.. I was thinking about their flat panel, and maybe someone had some experience with one of these... It would be less intrusive, and is made by the same company..
