Can't turn the flywheel down. I don't know if it is even recommended to lighten the flywheel. I would definitely be running a black flywheel though if you are modifying things

whats the reason why you cant turn it down? also whats so good about the black flywheel?

Turning down the pto overheats the crank bearings. I don't know how fast it kills the engines but vibration is not that bad and it does help acceleration a little. Racers did it all the time but they are not after longevity, just that slight edge.

This is the 787 that came out of a race 95 XP800 that Krispy bought. It has a "lightened" pto

Keep the 2 strokes alive!

You still have to look at the threads. Those are rare with the 95 thread pitch

you can absolutely mill the rear pto flywheel (just like in the picture - so it basically is a flat coupler). while you are at it, get an aluminum mag flywheel to 'balance' the weight loss. 787 & 951 engines love less rotating mass. just make sure you get a skat magnum pump in there ( or a large hub rfi pump) to take advantage of the extra acceleration.

spec 2 pipe + water injection
44mm carbs
increase compression

you will have a lot more fun!

Everything I have ever read on these forums says 93 octane is pushing it with a Factory pipe. People do it put it seems like to get the most out of the pipe you need to spin the bitch and run a mix of race gas.

Is this still the case?

Have to keep the revs under 7300 on pump gas. But if you are raising compression pump gas is probably out the window Braley can explain better than I can.

Back when we raced we had a pump gas spec 2 setup. Can only bump the compression slightly. Biggest issue with spec 2 is timing at max rpms. Need to pull it back to around 14deg or so at max rpms. Not hard if you are running a msd enhancer, and you know what your base mechanical timing is.

It is if it is a Spec 2. He needs to look at the machined flat surface with that brass plug in it and see if "Spec 2" is stamped there. If so it's incomplete but if not it's a Spec 1. The Spec 1 is still good though.

will a stock st of carbs with different jets run a spec 1 or 2 pipe?

I believe factory pipe gave jetting specs for both spec 1 and 2, but I personally would not run stock carbs with a spec 2.

Thanks i just picked one up on ebay for 20 shipped. I also just got a factory pipe spec one pipe. my next question is what do you guys think i should do about the carbs? would would you run ? what kinda money are we talking?

With the spec 1 I think you will be ok with stock carbs just rejet to fpp specs you will want to add flame arrestor as well

Wasn't keen on building a mod ski at the time. Matt had to have them for his carbon x4.
