So yesterday my oil pump cable bracket snapped killing my engine. If you have the older style cover where the cable connects to the pump I would switch it out for the newer cover that has the oil pump cable bracket built in.
That should not have killed your engine. The oil pumps have a failsafe in which if the cable breaks or comes off the oil pump goes wide open providing more oil not less.

I believe that earlier bracket required two 10mm jam nuts,,,the newer style just needs 1 jam nut to secure the cable before the pump.,,easier and faster cable install and oil adjustment.
