We already put a clamp on that. That is where we thought the leak was at first but that was not the problem. Those pictures were right before we went to put gas in them.

I left out a couple pictures. I am going to paint this pipe but want to see if I notice a bit more performance. Apparently the 97 spx waterbox is suppose to be better so since we have one I may as well try it out. That is the 3rd waterbox that was going to go in this. The first one came with the 99, I painted it a week prior to clearing it so I scuffed it up and like a jack@$$ I sprayed brake cleaner on it and the paint gummed up. So on to pipe 2 instead of sanding it back down I started with a fresh pipe I got it all painted and then we went to put it in and the front nozzle was in the center of the pipe and not offset, hmmm oh that is out of a gsx so that wont work so for the 3 rd one we just slapped it in. I already had enough setbacks.

It was an air leak, the gasket under the mag carb looks like this.

So it was a quick fix.

This is not related to the 99 but my 96 xp got a little attention tonight too.

My front tow hook was damaged by my trailer so I switched it up a bit

I told you it would be something stupid that was causing the issue and we would kick ourselves once we found it.

Now it's time to get up north, float in the water, ride the skis and have a few cold ones while we admire our work from the last month... Dam it. It's only Wednesday. This is the longest week ever.

You guys better not be all partied out by the time I get up there next week! Haha

Haha. No worries. This is long over due for me and matt. We were stuck in the sweat box all last weekend while the others were out having a good old time on St. Clair. And I've wanted to ride mine since the day I got in on Christmas.

We will just have ours broken in by the time you get up.

Just so all of you know those pics are Higgins lake. On the arial shot you can see the light water, that is all sand no rocks no seaweed. That sand bar goes out a couple hundred feet. The dark water is 140ft deep. There is a straight drop off at the end of the sandbar. The light color in the middle of the bottom portion is a sunken island.

That is beautiful!!! I don't know how to have the pics show up but here are the url's. This is Shuswap lake - in the interior of BC.
The Lake basically forms a large "X". Last year we hit all corners and put on about 350 miles. It's the best lake in BC.

Well besides the seat she is ready to go.

All loaded up ready for the lake

The first day out I she started and ran great, I pulled the seat off and everything looked fine, a couple hours later we pulled it out and the tuned pipe was getting very hot, so hot it discolored the paint. So while trouble shooting that issue we took apart the water regulator and that was fine, checked all hoses for leaks or plugs and they were fine. My buddy Jim or Jimnut noticed the pipe was hard jetted, so we took that fitting out and replaced it with a stock fitting. That fixed that issue.

So that was problem 1

Now problem 2

The steering cable was catching and really hard to turn. So since we brought every spare part you can imagine we changed that out. Simple hour fix. Problem 2 fixed

Here is the biggest problem. After about 14 hours of break in time. We were all set for a day of good hard wot fun. We load the boat and 8 seadoos. We go and anchor and anchor all the seadoos around the boat. I look at the 99 and it looks like it was sinking. Jimnut and i swim over to it and lift the seat and water is up to the airbox, the plugs were ou t:facepalm: I hit the start button and it had a slight turn then it locked up. So we pull it to the beach and let the water drain from the hull. After all the water drained we put the plugs back in. We put the seadoo back in the water and pulled the spark plugs. We then hit the start button and ALOT OF WATER shot out. We had full streams shooting out. After it was almost all out we put the plugs back in and tried to get her to fire. She sputtered and then would just crank, so we pulled the plugsand cranked some more and more water came out. We repeated this process 8-10 times and then she fired up. It was then ridden at wot around the entire lake 2 times and ran perfect. The next few days she ran perfect.

All issues solved whew what a weekend. There was a few other issues with the other seadoos but I will post those on other threads.

Looks like we will not need to go to Florida for our 2nd one. Today we are proud owners of a super clean seadoo. This is in amazing shape. The motor is out and apart. We have a used grey motor with 140 compression ready to drop in tomorrow. The mline seat has one tear in the back and the mline logo is fading. This is the twin to post #15 on this thread.

The head pipe has already been welded. We got it as it is now, we did not do anything to it yet, not even wash it.

:hurray:

Mint!
Double Fresh!!!!!

I saw that on craigslist but I don't need another project. Did you get it less than the 600 asking? I was surprised it lasted as long as it did on there.

It didn't last long. I talked to the owner the 1st night that it went up. He said he got a ton of calls on it. The guy was really nice and the guy he used to work on it was ripping him off. They previously charged him $400 to weld his head pipe. As for the price I did not negotiate at all $600 for this with the trailer is a no brainer. Plus the guy drove it to us

Good find! Everytime I see one like that I'm working and by the next day it's gone! I would have grabbed that for $600 in a heartbeat!

Started to get to work on this right away. Yesterday we started to clean up the inside.

We had to replace a few parts that were broken.

The nozzle

The trim rod

Tonight we put on the pump, rest of the exhaust, both ebox's.

Only thing left to do is put on the carbs and air box and then we will be on the lake water testing this.

Someone has modified that exhaust manifold. The fitting that feeds the tell tale has been enlarged. I have to do that for reverse cooling, I wonder why they did it?

Do you mount your engines before hooking up the cylinder drain and RV oil line? I hook mine up first cause it's tough working by feel on the low side once it's in there.

This new 99 is awesome and was primed for a quick turnaround. I like that M-line seat. Good luck on your sale, somebody's gonna be a proud/lucky owner.
