99 SPX problems

I am having some problems with my 99 spx. I was previously having some problems with it starting, and i was told to change the starter. So i did, and it was starting fine. Well after a little bit of riding, it died on me again and i came to the conclusion that it was a bad starter that i had put in. So i changer the starter again, and now it seems to be doing what is was originally. It would try to turn over and then stop, try to turn over and then stop again. The positive wire is getting very hot at the battery connection and the starter connection. What could i possibly begin to look at next. Thanks in advance

Make sure your engine grounds are good and clean.

The engine grounds, as far as the one on the starter??? Or are there more i should be checking?? Thanks

I am not sure where the other grounds are to the engine. If anyone could tell me where to look i would appreciate it. Thanks
