The oil light came on while we were on the lake yesterday. I trailered the boat, got home and had about 1/2 gallon of oil left. I put another gallon of oil in the tank thinking that would turn the light off. It's still on, though.

Appears to be a sensor problem to me. Any quick fixes? Anything I should look at first?

Thanks.

The light will come on with a bunch of oil left in the tank. Also... once new oil is put in... it takes a little wile for the light to go out. Go check it again, and it may be out now.

If it's not... then the sensor has gone bad, or there is a bad connection between the gauge and the sensor.

Thanks. I'll check when I get back from my business trip later this week. That should be enough time for it to reset... :)

I don't mind it coming on with plenty of oil left. That's better than it alerting me when there's a few minutes worth of oil left...

I think thats the point. my light will come on with about a 1/2 gal also. I think it is set up that way so you have enough oil to burn the tank of fuel in the boat.

if it's not out when you get home... let us know.

OK. Just got back from my trip and the light is still on.

What's the most common point of failure?

Could the light mean anything else? Or is it just an oil light indicator?

Thanks.

Well, I checked the oil light again tonight and it's not on anymore, so I guess the sensor finally opened.

Thanks for the help.
