Hello,

I am new to the forums, I own a 99 Seadoo XP with a few minor issues. None of the gauges are working, I have strong suspicion that it is the harness's to the gauges as they appear corroded. Does anyone have any ideas? If it is the short harness's to the gauges, where can I find these?

Thank You,

Zack

welcome.

Well... if you have bad wires... you will have to open plugs, and start checking with a meter until you find the bad one. As far as finding a new harness... you probably won't. SeaDoo would have discontinued the parts by now for 99... so you will have to fix/rebuild what you have.

I would check all the fuses before opening all the wires.

Dr. Honda,

Thank you, I have checked all the fusses and they appear to be good. The harness appear to be bad because some of the pins have corrosion. Is there anyway to go about fixing these pins in the harness?

At one point all of the gauges worked except for the fuel gauge and the speedo would work periodically. I put electrical grease on all of the plugs, this is when all of the gauges died. It seems it would be a fuse, but I cannot find a bad fuse. I will try testing the power to gauges with a voltage meter.

for the gas gauge, theres tons of "how-to" fixes for it, think theres a sticky from RX-951

aND FOR THE SPEEDO, CHECK THE PADDLE WHEEL OUT BACK, AT THE PUMP. dOESNT TAKE MUCH (SAND/PEPPLES), TO LODGE IT, AND WILl not turn.....sorry for caps.

I will look up the fuel gauge fix. The paddle wheel is free and clear. I am starting to wonder if the wires at the front of the hatch are damaged. I will take a look at it tomorrow, it is too cold today, woke up to -25 degree temperatures this morning!

Well the Tach and speedo starting working out of the blue. The VTS and Fuel gauge aren't working, I have reason to believe it is the harness's attached to the gauges as some of the prongs are broke. I am lost for ideas...

open up the black ebox, cant remember if the 951 is the same setup as the 800, but there should be a 7.5amp fuse, which controls the VTS. Yeah, poor design to mount a $900 unit up front, if/when water enters hull, it'll just keep get'n wet/splashed, upon.

The fuse is good, I tried putting power directly to the fuel gauge and it won't move, I took it apart and it appears to be rusted. I can get it to jump when I put power to the positive and ground it on the small coil inside the gauge, so I assume it's bad. I know for sure that my harness to the fuel gauge and VTS is bad as one of the pins is broken off, appears to have corroded. I guess I will try purchasing at the least a fuel gauge off of eBay, possibly a VTS gauge. I have had it with this machine, it runs excellent after I put a new engine in it, just trying to get the gauges fixed so I can sell the dang thing!

Thanks!
