I have a 99 GTX I can't get to rev over 3000 rpm. Seems as soon as it hits 3000 the gauges flash and the ski dies. It will start right back up an idles perfectly forever. Is this possibly a rectifier gone bad? New Plugs - even compression 125 - doesn't feel like fuel. Fuel lines changed and carbs cleaned last season. It consistantly aburply cuts off as soon as you press the throttle up to 3000+ rpms.

Yep... high voltage will do all kinds of strange things. Put a meter on the battery, and check it out.
