Hello all,

I own a 99 GSX RFI with 120 hours.. I have owned this ski for 6 years. I am very familiar with the workings of this ski, and do all maintenance and repairs my self. A few months ago I replaced the DESS post because the Ski would suddenly loose power, like the key was removed! That problem has been fixed, but recently have had another problem I cant solve. Intermittently when I put the DESS key on the post to start the machine the time and other LCD gauge functions reset to Zero and clock back to 12:00.I have gone through all the fuses and searched for loose wires. The machine starts and runs perfectly but Still Resets with no warning! Any help or tests would be highly appreciated!

The gauge is independent of the MPEM. It's loosing power. I would pull every plug apart, and look for corrosion. You may not find anything... but sometimes just pulling plugs apart, and putting them back together will fix the issue.

One other thing... it doesn't happen often with SeaDoo, but do you see any condensation in the gauge? If you do... then there isn't a fix for your problem, and eventually it's just going to die.

There is no condensation in the Gauge at all, I thought the MPEM stored all the information for the Gauge, because all of the hours and miles are on this gauge as well! I will check the connections and re-post.. again. this is something that happens for no rhyme or reason.. it could be fine for 3 start-ups .. then i will reset the time and it will reset the very next time.. and so on. I have ruled out any fuses.. because it wouldn't be an intermittent problem.. it would just not work.. Could it be the gauge is failing?

He pulled the guage harness from the MPEM and inspected the pins. All looked good. He plugged it back in and all seems to be working normal. ??????
Loose connection? Improper connection?
