took the ski out today and have 5 hours on the clock and ran about 20 gal of fuel on new engine, my issue is that it has a 2 -3 second hesitation at take off almost full throttle, once it reaches mid rpm it takes off like a banshee. other than that it runs great!
pulled plugs and is dark brown in color, put a new set in, easier starts but still has the hesitation, the first set of plugs are gapped at 24 thousands the second set @ 20 thousands. i trimmed 1/4" off the wires before my maiden voyage. did a voltage test after i got home and reads 13.19 not running and 13.3 volts running @3500 rpm i havent done a compression ck yet as the engine is still warm so i need to wait till it cools off. could the tps cause this if needing reset? thanks

Kevin - I was out yesterday as well...nice to beat the weekend crowd & chop. Smooth water and the ski ran great. I continue on break-in as well with close to 8.5 hours now and feel confident on the build. Have yet to ride WOT but hit a few times yesterday and reached 54 mph on the speedo.
What is your idle in the water? Mine is 1400 and plan to bump up a little. Though I have yet to do any hole shots I still feather my starts. I realize the GTX is just a big Cadillac cruiser but really enjoy it.

PS - found this post on another forum:

A few weeks ago, I finally when and bought a CandooPro Programmer, I did the TPS reset and idle screw adjustment and the idle and bog issues are all gone. The Ski idles perfect, does not stall, runs smooth throught the power band, finally fixed. I was a simple process too, should not have waited so long to get the device.

Hammer that couch, LOL. You have waited long enough. Seriously though I'm glad the ski is sorted out and you're enjoying it.

You're right it's time to hammer. It's been a long time coming but it's finally nice to enjoy the water :). Again many thanks for the guidance and support during the rebuild.

yep one of these days i'll have to break down and buy one as i hate relying on the stealer. seems very simple to do according to the repair manual.

Keep me posted on the TPS reset. I hope it solves the hesitation. Me too on the CanDoo....I hope to add to tool chest when excess funds come about.

No worries man, I help you, you help the next guy and so on!!!!!!!!!!!

Jammin, any updates? I was out yesterday for a few hours and discovered new areas of the lake that I've never seen....nice to venture from shore. Ski ran great and like Racer mentioned I hammered it. I m about 10 hours on the rebuild and felt it was time :). A bit choppy but I just cruised and found some calm coves and played. I should have bought one of things years ago!
Hope all is well.

i took it to the stealer to have the tps reset and should have it back in a couple days. then i'm going camping for a few days july 6th and will have the lowdown. done some research and it sounds like the hesitation is the tps setting. thanks and i will keep you posted. so glad to hear yours is running great! you're all broke in now, have fun!:)

just got the ski back from the stealer, he said the tps was at 3 degrees fully closed, did the reset to zero and bumped it up to 6.7 degrees. going camping on the 6th through the 9th. will report the results when i get back.

Can't wait to hear how it runs! Keeping an eye out on the weather here in Raleigh - damn storm! Hope to get out later today and a few times over the weekend.....weather permitting. Wife and daughters are itching to go to the beach....lot's of cancelations in the last 24 hours but the hotels are not budging on their rates.
