Hey guys, quick question. Just bought a 99 GSX RFI with very few hours on a newer motor. I started it at the camper and drove 10 mins to the lake and it wouldn't turn over.

The battery is new. I checked all fuses and they were good. The grounds and all connections seemed to be good and connected. Im not really sure where to go from here. I tried to jump the starter solenoid and nada.

I put the key in and it bees twice then I will try to start it and ill get on small click and i can hear a fuel pump or something quietly whine. After that it gives me the 4 quick beeps (Something with MPEM connectivity or the key I believe) that repeat until i pull the key off.

Is my voltage regulator, rectifier, or starter solenoid bad? Is it not recognizing my key but still giving two beeps? IDK where to go from here.

Also my XPL took a crap and I was able to jump the starter solenoid and it turned over so it just needs one. Does it matter OEM or aftermarket for starter solenoids? Now i know to have extras.

I know you stated a new battery for the GSX but your symptoms are that of not enough voltage. So load test battery and check connections on both ends of battery cables.

Let me rewind and say the seller stated that the battery was new, but has not ridden it this year, i rode it once and got a low voltage light, but the seller said he got that intermittently. Upon more research i noted that these things are way finicky to cottage changes.....Should I go grab a sealed AGM from wally world and try her out? I always pull my ground off my XPL and put it on a tender whenever parked....should I do the same with the GSX?

Stick with OEM solenoid.
I would stay away from any Walmart battery but I agree sounds like your battery is bad.
I buy the standard flooded ones from Napa and get about 5 years out of them on a Battery Tender.
16C-LB is the model.

You could have two problems bad battery and bad solenoid. Did you try jumping solenoid when you tried the battery out of you XPL?
