I recently acquired this xp. put new battery in it. only chirps when hitting start button. checked solenoid fuse ..good..tried removing temp.sensor wire from sensor...no luck...tried disconnecting oil reservoir wire from reservoir..no luck...any suggestions appreciated

do you get two chirps when you put the lanyard on the post ?

no chirps when pugging in lanyard, only chirps when trying to start. thanks for the help....

Your key is invalid or the DESS post is not working correctly.

IF you get 2 beeps upon connecting the key, it's a valid key. If you get one LONG beep when connecting a key it's an invalid key.

If you get no beeps when connecting the key, something is broken.

thanks for information very helpful....it was wrong key, got wrong key from seller. he couldn't test, battery was dead. put new key in ,two chirps....hit start button and selonoid engaging...checkwed voltage at pos. on starter....getting power...12volts ...no starrt.....pulling starter.....again ...thanks for help....also wondering what is a good sealant to seal all electrical connections...boots..etc

I use permatex dielectric grease. Any name brand should be fine.
