98 xp limited Good power, acts like loss of traction

Ski runs great, hit the gas and will go, but then it will rev high and loose forward momentum. Ease into the throttle and can get up to about 45 tops. If you give it to much gas, acts like a car spinning. Seems like it's developing an air pocket in pump? Losing it's prime. It dropped off the trailer and pump housing hit the dock. No physical damage to the housing or anything. If it shifted the impeller even a .5 mm, can that cause this problem. Ideas ?

It's cavatation... and yes... it's air in the pump.


Since it fell of the trailer... I'd pull the pump, and re-seal the pump shoe to the hull. Also... while you are in there... you should probably replace the carbon ring.

insect entire drive line -pump, impeller, wear ring, carbon ring, drive shaft, etc....yes .5 mm shifiting too much
