I have a 98 GTX jet ski with a rotax 2 stroke motor, I just now went to get it out on the water for the first time this year. I have a set of 2 of these ski's one of them started right up the other one which has a new SBT motor in it that was installed last year shows low oil on the gauge. I put a quart of oil in the oil tank and it still shows low oil on the gauge, the tank leaks oil out slowly I think it looks like it is coming from one of the lines which I am going to repair after I fix this issue. When I hit the start button it does nothing, when I put the lanyard on the ski it beeps twice but does not try to engaged the starter. I put a new battery in still does the same thing. Also if I take the lanyard off and hit the start button the dash comes on so that proves to me the button has power and is working. So my question is if the low oil light is on will this disable the option of starting the ski? and if so I have a quart oil in the ski and how do I get the low oil light to go offer

I'm betting it is the sensor in the oil tank.

Test the start wire at the solenoid. See if it has 12 volts when pressing the start button. If so, it is likely your solenoid. Assuming the battery and connections are all good.

This also assumes the starter is not defective.

If you do get 12 volts at the start wire test the output side of the solenoid while pressing the start button. If 12 volts problem is with starter or starter wire. No volts then solenoid.

I don't think that is the case but someone with more knowledge than I will step in. I'll read the manual later tonight.

Thank You for all your help!! I appreciate any suggestions my boy was on me to get this going and I got it's current sticker on the ski and went to start them and now this ugh they worked fine last year. Thanks again.

You should do the tests that I suggested as it will help to isolate things a bit.

My low oil indicator goes on with just a little less than a half tank and the tank holds over a gallon of oil, so adding 1 quart my not be enough to turn the light off.

Your oil leak is most likely caused by a leaky grommet at the oil fitting in the bottom of the oil tank.
