98 GTX ltd engine questions

I've ot a 98 gtx limited that has a blown case. I do not know much about these engines, I was told from the previous owner that this engine was rebuilt. I am looking at getting a new one but am trying to figure out what engine? Silver or white? This current one has a white tops to it but the rest is silver. Can I put a silver 951 in this without any issues?
