98 GTX Ltd. Blown fuse

My 98 GTX Ltd. works great except every once in a while the 15amp fuse in the front compartment blows and the machine goes completely dead. The first time I replaced the fuse and it worked fine for quite a while. On the weekend it blew again and when I tried to replace it, it blew immediately. That was yesterday and I have not tried to replace it since. What is this fuse for and what are the possible causes for it to keep blowing?

You have metal particle bits in your Stator. Loosen front mount and wood block
up engine to get the magnito cover off. Bill

Thanks for the input! Is this as complicated as it sounds? Looking at the parts catalog it looks like I may need to remove the oil pump and shaft and a few other things? Is that what I'm looking at?
