I had to get a those bolts remachined 2 months ago. I was riding on the lake a week ago and noticed I didnt have as much power as normal. Pulled my seat off and two of the bolt broke and hull had a bunch of water. Was pretty pissed because I just got it out of the shop for that. it was my second time out on the water since gettng it out of the shop. The was was glass. I wasnt even riding hard. I went fishing and probably rode total engine time 20 minutes. Anyway When I took it to the shop the first time the mechanic checked my engine mounts and said they were fine. My though is they didnt put some locktiight in the threads. Anything else that could be causing this?

I am going to take it back to them. hopefully they will redo it for free. I am a welder. I thought about just welding it but I know as soon as I do that I will have to patch the corrosion points on the tune pipe. I am surprized the mechanic did catch it

To do it properly they should put a fresh gasket in, make sure the rubber grommets are in good condition. Then clean out all the threads and then using a torque wrench, torque down the bolts 3 times, snugging them more each time. The torques specs are not that tight. The tightening pattern and torque specs I think are in the manual.
Most of the time they break cause bolts were to tight and things cant move and stretch as needed.
Seems to happen to the 720's more often.

and DO NOT over torque them !!!

The parts get hot, and expand. If you make them too tight... they will break when the pipe gets hot.

I carry these new bushings in stock...all 580-720 should be replaced if your bolts back out.

Put all bolts in loose, then criss cross on the 4 bolts before you tighten up the support bolt(s) along with lok-tite.

the machanic I used is normally pretty good. I had a blown wear ring. Dropped it off and 8 hours later they told me to pick it up. Hopefully they wont charge me for this. It cost 200 buck the first time. Normaly I spend about 500 a year in mantianance. I ride hard, spins and jumping
