Just picked this up.

120 hours, New top around 100 hours

Oil pump coupler has been removed, claim it caused the top end failure (lines still primed with red oil)

Sometimes flashes 12v low at start up

Getting 13.5v while idling

Takes on water overnight, looks like the carrier bearing has been neglected.

I understand these engines are high risk/high reward, are there any surefire indicators that it's time for a top end refresh before it let's go?

Action plan
Rebuild carbs
Fuel & oil lines
Oil pump coupler
Flush bottom end
Traction mats
Start button

These motors usually last around 200 to 250 hours spending on how it was ridden and cared for

Compression test is the best check of a top end.

I would change the small 3/32" oil lines from the oil pump to the intake manifold.

Counter-balancer oil change.
