My 98 GSX was out for the first time this weekend and just as we were about to head home, after running a couple hours, I went to accelerate and it just stopped no nothing. It would not restart, not even try, there was no message at all on the "dashboard". It acts as if the key is not in properly but I tried cleaning the key, the key reciever....nothing. I have a second machine so I swapped batteries and that did not solve the issue. I was able to turn the crankshaft so I dont think its seized. Any advice would be appreciated.

If there isn't any power to the ski (the gauges are off) then look for a blown fuse. If they are all good... then the post has probably gone bad. Internal of the post, is a small magnetic switch, and it can go bad.

Thanks doc , I appreciate it...any direction as to where the fuses are...i tried ( hesitantly) to remove the cover to the box that the battery cable goes to thinking fuses would be there...it seemed tough so thought better of it...and gave it up

Thanks again

98 GSX just stopped...5 amp fuse was issue!!!!

replaced the 5 amp fuse to the mpem and voila:thumbsup:....the guages came alive and she starts...Question... I read, in some instances, where this can be a constant problem....what are the chances that this fuse blowing is a random event or a sign of more serious issues??? Does this fuse just blow from time to time? Thanks in advance for your experienced views...Dan
