I have a 98 gsx that I'm working on it was flipped a month ago and about a foot of water went in to the boat. all the water was pumped out and the out come was loss of gauges and running when it feels like! My friend had it running for about one hour the other day on the lake then died! He brought it home and couldn't get anything (no gauges, no beeps, nothing). He brought it over to my place today and I took the lid off the black box at the back and it was full of water and the coil and relay connections were all bad. I took it all apart and cleaned every thing up put it back together and still nothing. I checked the 5 amp fuse for the MPEM and it was blown. I unplugged the MPEM and put a new fuse in there and it blew! I'm so lost could somthing be bad with the coil or relay at the back?? Please halp there is a photo of the water logged box on another post from my self.

I put jumper cables on one side of the solenoid and attached the other to the other the boat turns over

I just keeping blowing the MPEP fuse. I take the two plugs off the MPEP and the fuses still blow!! I'm about to make a reef out of this boat!!! Please help!!!!

conecting the jumpers to both large terminals wont tell you if the relay is good they operate off the small wire when power is sent to the small wire it connects the 2 terminals inside you need to send power to one of the small wires and you should hear a click and the engine will turn over if the solenoid is good try this and also clean all wire conections post back with your findings

I just put a test light on the power side of the solenoid and ran it to the yellow/red wire the light turned on!! but still no go

so with the key in your saying you have power going into the solenoid through the small wire on the side but no power at the starter side of solenoid right ? ( the 2nd large post on top of solenoid ) make shure you press the start button to take the reading

well i defenitly think thers a problem in that box some where did u clean all the terminals off in there if it still looks like that thers defenitly corrosion

your brolem is in a connection or termanal somewhere pull apart every conection and clean it i had a tun of problems iwht mine when my box filled like this and it turned out to be one wire connection that was makeing the fuse blow but my solenoid was also garbage

The ignition coil for all four black wire are good grounds. the white one also dosn't carry power it make my lite go on as a ground!! could this be the problem??

ya that would sound like your problem if your getting a ground off that its shot its arcingout inside and when the fuse is installed and popping it

the white wire that goes in to the side of the coil thers a rubber gromet thing disconect that and see if the fuse still pops

ya I removedd it off the coil and it still popped I'm out of fuses so I tried a 20 amp up there and it blew the 15 in the box at the back?? WTF so confused

well I'm off to make a reef out of a 98 gsx, I can't remember where I left my gun though!! Don't worry Environmentalists, I am going to drain the gas plus gas has good value up here!!! Pics to follow!!
