98 GSX cutting off at high speed?

Took out a 98 GSX Ltd for the first time yesterday. Ski is easy to start and has good low end, sounds good, all guages working fine. At wide open throttle it will cut off after 2-3 seconds. No hesitation, just a complete shut down of engine. Starts right back up and goes. Will do it every time. I am going to go thru the carbs completely assuming I might have a partially clogged carb internal filter or perhaps partially clogged high speed jet, but it acts more like an electrical issue. It cuts off so clean and quickly and starts right back up.

Any thoughts. Possible stator issue. I've been working on Seadoos for several years now, never run across this.

PS: When it cuts out I get the 12V-Low warning, its gone as soon as the ski is restarted and I don't get the warning any other time.

PPS: If it were a momentary loss of contact at the DESS post/key I shouldn't get the 12V-Low warning, right?

It shouldn't give you a 12v low... but who knows since it's cutting out at speed. I would still point my finger at the DESS post.

BUT........... Check the voltage. Put a meter on the battery, and bring the RPM's up to 5000. (do this on the trailer) If your regulator is going bad... and you get high voltage... you will get all kinds of strange electrical problems.
