I have a 1997 XP that has some issues. I will explain what she is doing and not doing. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Out of water the ski fires right up idles and seems to rev up fine. In water she fires right up and idles great. But when I give her throttle she just bogs down. Now if i just hold the throttle a little way open she will cruise along at like 5 mph at a very low rpm fine.but if i try to go over that she just bogs down..doesnt die but just bogs.

I can hold the throttle wide open and it will just cruise along at a low speed and rpm. Every now and then it will take off for a split sec and then bog down again. oh also compression is 141-140

You might get away with a carb cleaning. If you careful and don't rip any diaphragms or gaskets, and not have to buy a rebuild kit. Pay special attention to the small internal filters in the carbs. The gray fuel fuel lines are a must to replace, as they deteriorate from the inside out and clog the carbs.

If your going to take apart your carbs spend the 80 bucks and get the rebuild kits!! Your fuel pump diaphram warp after pro longed use and that can affect the performance. Those diaphrams and gaskets will tear easy when you pull them apart, especially if they have never been torn apart before. Just my 2 cents...

Finally started changing the lines. Found a jello like green substance in the return lines coming from carbs, one of them clogged completely. Anyone have any idea what the green stuff is?

Pix....

Last year, when I changed out my fuel lines on that new GTX I bought, I did the same thing. Took some pix, cut them lengthwise and took photos.

The Tempo fuel lines was another one of those big blunders that Seadoo used in building our skis.

In my signature, there is a link to "snipes korner" where I did a bit of research on these lines with pictures. I'm going to ask the poster if I can use this photo in my korner, where all who read the korner can see this up close and personal view. His camera takes much better close ups than mine does......!

Thanks guys!! I am glad you liked the pics.I'm happy to be able to finally contribute something to the site, since you all have been so much help.

I'm getting ready to tear into the carbs so I'll post more pics If I find any more "mystery goo." So then we can all see what these fuel lines are actually doing to our fuel systems.

And once again thanks for the compliments on the photos I really do appreciate it.:)

96 XP won't go either

I am having the exact same problem with my '96 XP, I just bought this ski a few months ago and today was the first time I've been able to ride it. I read your post and am so glad to now have an idea what's wrong. Where did you get your new fuel lines? Is there a certain type or specific size? Any help will be greatly appreciated

Just get about 14' of 1/4" fuel line from like Auto Zone. Replace the clamps too, with stainless steel ones.
